Services

Public Safety is available for a number of services, for more information on any of the following services contact extension 1112.

Escorts

Public Safety provides walking escorts to any Simmons location from any other Simmons location, including off-campus dorms (Beacon Street dorm and Wentworth dorm). To request a walking escort, please contact Public Safety at extension 1112. Don't hesitate to call anytime.

Motor Vehicle Assists

A Public Safety Officer assisting with a vehicle

If you find that your car battery has died, or you have locked your keys in your car, contact Public Safety at extension 1112 to get assistance from an officer.

Investigations

The Public Safety Department provides all types of criminal investigations for the Simmons community. They can range from credit card theft and stolen computers to harassment and relationship violence. Contact Public Safety at extension 1112 to speak with an officer.

Court Appearance

A Simmons officer may accompany you to assist with court procedures in certain cases.

Crime Bulletins and Alerts

In compliance with the "Timely Notice" provisions of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Police and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998 the Department of Public Safety will release and notify the Simmons community of any important crime bulletins and alerts via email.

Fingerprinting Service

Public Safety can assist in the taking of fingerprints for those members of the Simmons community that need to have fingerprints taken for any reason. For more information or to set up an appointment contact Public Safety at extension 1112.

Operation Identification (OPID)

Operation Identification is a nationally recognized crime prevention project to protect your valuables from theft. The program deters thieves from stealing your valuables by engraving a number on an item. This number can be traced anywhere around the country and will aid the police in recovery. To take advantage of this program, contact extension 1112 to set up an appointment with Public Safety.

STOP (Security Tracking of Office Products)

STOP is a crime prevention service which protects laptops, PDAs, and other small electronic devices from theft by attaching a tamper-proof plate that acts as a visible deterrent and assists police in identifying the rightful owner of stolen equipment. For a $10 registration fee, your electronic device will be marked with a STOP tamper-proof plate that identifies the owner and leaves a stolen property tattoo if removed.
