Health Center Staff

Kay Petersen, MD

Medical Director

Kay Petersen, MD, has been the medical director of the Simmons Health Center since 1987. She is a graduate of Dartmouth Medical School and completed her residency in internal medicine at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. She is board-certified in internal medicine. Dr. Petersen also serves as the director of the Beth Israel Deaconess College Health Program, is a staff physician at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and an instructor in medicine at Harvard Medical School. She is particularly interested in health care quality and in public health problems that affect college campuses.

Susan Glazer, MBA

Administrative Director

Susan Glazer is a health care manager with experience in both public health and hospital administration. At the Simmons Health Center she shares responsibility for Health Center operations with Kay Petersen, MD, the Medical Director. She has also served on a number of college-wide Committees. Susan is especially interested in designing administrative systems at the Health Center that support and facilitate the work of Health Center clinicians.

Marybeth Davis, ASN

Practice Manager

Marybeth Davis has worked at the Simmons Health Center for more than 25 years, initially as a clinic nurse and more recently as an administrator. Among her current responsibilities are the implementation of the college's immunization program, and managing the front desk operations of both the Simmons and Wentworth Health Centers. Marybeth's primary areas of interest are public health issues and health education.

Mary Zook, RNC, ANP

Nurse Practitioner

Mary Zook has been a nurse practitioner for 25 years and has been working for two years at the Simmons Health Center providing both primary care and urgent care. Her passion has been working in community health settings and she enjoys serving the Simmons and Fenway college communities.

Cheri Le Blanc, MD, CCFP

Staff Physician

Cheri LeBlanc MD is a family physician who has worked in college health for 19 years. She has been at the Simmons Health Center for over a year. Dr. LeBlanc is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario School of Medicine and completed her residency in Family Medicine at Queens University in Kingston Ontario. She is board-certified in Family Practice in Canada. Dr. LeBlanc is on the staff at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and is a clinical instructor at the Harvard Medical School. Her areas of interest include respiratory medicine, infectious disease and women's health.

Amy Silver, MD

Staff Physician

Amy Silver, MD has been a physician at the Simmons College Health Center since 1993 and a full time practicing internist for nine years prior to coming to Simmons. She is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completed her residency at Strong Memorial Hospital at the University of Rochester. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine, an instructor at Harvard Medical School, and on the staff of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Dr. Silver's special interests include adolescent medicine, gynecology, and medical education (teaching).

Joan Salie, RNC

Staff Nurse

Joan Salie has worked at the Health Center for 28 years. In addition to being a registered nurse, she is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a college health nurse specialist. At Simmons, Joan provides care for students who come through the urgent care clinic. Her primary interest is in teaching preventive health care to students as a part of each clinic visit.

Denise O'Connor, R. N., B.S.N.

Nurse Coordinator

Denise O'Connor, nurse coordinator at the Health Center, has worked at Simmons for over 20 years. Her responsibilities include managing the walk-in clinic, scheduling and assisting the practitioners, and working to ensure continuity of care. Denise enjoys helping students manage their health problems in the college setting.

Judith Bolick, RN

Clinic Nurse

Judy Bolick has been a college health nurse for almost 20 years and worked formerly at Regis College in their student health center. Judy came to Simmons in 2002 and provides care to students who come through the urgent care clinic. She is especially interested in and enjoys working with college-aged students.

Laurel Gourville, RN, CPNP

Nurse Practitioner

Laurel Gourville has been a Nurse Practitioner for 15 years and has focused on adolescent and young adult care, including caring for patients with HIV/AIDS in critical care settings. Laurel has worked in the urgent care clinic at Simmons for three years, and has a special interest in patients challenged with chronic pulmonary illnesses such as asthma and allergies.

Rebecca Koeniger-Donohue PhD, APRN, RNC

Staff Nurse Practitioner

Rebecca Koeniger-Donohue is a nurse practitioner certified in adult health and women's health and is as assistant professor in the Simmons College Nursing Department. She has worked at the Simmons College Health Center since 1995 and has been an NP for over 25 years. She received her PhD from the University of Rhode Island, master's degree from Boston University and BSN from St. Anselm College. Rebecca's areas of clinical interest include health promotion and prevention, women's health across the lifespan, and evidenced-based complementary therapies.

Tanisha Mercer

Staff Assistant

Tanisha Mercer has been a front desk receptionist at the Simmons Health Center for four years and is responsible for registering students who come to the Health Center for care. She assists students with scheduling appointments and provides information about the Health Center services. Tanisha is especially interested in developing strong professional relationships with students in order to facilitate them seeking the most appropriate care.
