Free Training

Through the Pottruck Technology Resource Center, Simmons makes available a wide range of technology training for students, both via regularly scheduled classes and through anywhere/anytime web based training.

All current students can enroll, free of charge, in workshops on such topics as: Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access), design skills and applications, video editing, and operating systems (Windows XP, Mac OS X). To see current offerings and to register online, check the online training calendar.

For information or questions, students should contact Technology via email (training@simmons.edu) or by phone at 617-521-2736. While workshops are free, students are expected to attend classes for which they register, especially as workshops fill to capacity. In the event that a cancellation is necessary, the student should notify Technology by email at least 3 days in advance of the scheduled workshop time. Repeated no-shows or frequent cancellations may result in a student being moved to either stand-by registration status or blocked from online registration for workshops.

If you just need a little information to get you started, check the Help Desk's Tips & Documentation pages, where you will find tips about email, the Mac and Windows operating systems, safe computing, personal web publishing, and much more.
