Note from Mary D.

Thank you! Many of you responded to my note last week by filling out the student services satisfaction survey and I know how busy you all are, so thanks again for taking the time to do it!! There is still time for those of you that said -"I'll do it this week, I promise!!" But we jumped to over 50% participation last weekend and that is awesome!

We are down to two weeks now and talking with students this week revolves around that you can all now see the light at the end of the tunnel!! BGGE presentations are over for all of you now and were terrific as usual, and there is not a member of the SOM community that doesn't know how much time goes into preparing for them!!

Quotes of the Week

“The greatest thing in the world is not so much where we are, but in the direction we are moving.”
-- Oliver Wendell Holmes via Kerry Fenlon!

Class Gift 2008

Our Leadership.  Our Legacy.  Living Sustainability.

THANK YOU to our Simmons colleagues who have pledged to the campaign; contributions are arriving daily!  We are slowly but steadily making our way to a goal of 100% participation We are confident in our ability to meet this ambitious goal as further evidence of our excellence and commitment to the ideals of sustainability and principled leadership.

As you consider your contribution please keep the following in mind:

·       Class gift theme and focus was defined and approved by the Class of 2008

·       Every cent of your contribution goes directly to this program

·       Future contributions to the SOM can be earmarked specifically for the 2008 Class Gift program

·       Check with your company if they have a charitable contribution matching program – some companies will match dollar for dollar which doubles your gift amount credited to you

·       You will not be solicited for the Annual Simmons Fund Campaign if you contribute to the 2008 Class Gift Campaign

·       Leadership Gifts ($1000+) provides an invitation to a breakfast or a cocktail reception event with Dean Merrill-Sands

·       A $500 contribution to the Campaign equals 2.25 Grande Lattes per week at Starbucks

There are two passes to the Institute of Contemporary Art of Boston for the next person who commits at a Leadership Level (>$1000)!

To reach this goal, however, we need all of your support!  Please check your company's contribution matching program. You can check the class gift website at http://livingsustainability.googlepages.com/home to see if your company matches.

We look forward to hearing from all of you, and please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions that you may have.  Check the website periodically to see how we are progressing toward goal!

The Class Gift Co-Chairs,
Jen Albert, Martha Conover, Erin DeCurtis, Heather Lantz, Erin McFee
Class Gift Committee

Members of the Simmons School of Management Class of 2008 give to the Simmons School of Management a gift to support the promotion of sustainability and principled leadership at the School.

The Dean of the School of Management will use this gift to support the most innovative, exciting, and important activities related to sustainability and principled leadership at the School of Management.  The Dean may use this gift to support activities such as, but not limited to, faculty and/or student research on corporate social responsibility and principled leadership in business; design and enhancement of curriculum related to sustainability and corporate social responsibility; student internships related to sustainability and/or "green" business pursuits; extracurricular and/or academic student activities related to corporate social responsibility; and other activities in support of learning about and practicing principled leadership in business.

The Class of 2008 makes this gift to support the commitment to principled leadership held by the faculty, administration, staff, and students of the School of Management community and as a showing of support for the School's visible commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility in the form of its new building.  Members of the Class of 2008 hope the products and beneficiaries of this gift will continue to highlight to the world beyond the Simmons campus the School of Management's unique commitment to teaching and training principled leaders in business.

Current Student Invitation to Attend Graduation

August 8 at 10am at the John Hancock Hall on Berkeley St is the MBA graduation. It is a wonderful ceremony and all current students are invited and encouraged to attend. Over the years, when we run into current students, they often tell us that it is just the motivation and inspiration that you need to keep going and renew the goal of why you wanted to get yourr MBA. It is also really quick!! It starts right at 10 and will be done no later than 12!!

Current Students to Carry International Flags at Graduation

One of the fun parts of graduation is that we try and have the flags of all or our international students to lead the procession. If any current student is going and wants to carry a flag, we would love the extra help! It takes about 5 minutes and is really fun to see!! Email Paula at paula.bent@simmons.edu if you can do it!
