MBA Office Updates Sometimes it is the little things that keep us going and traditionally at this time of the year, the long weekend for Columbus Day is timed perfectly for MBA studentsl! Many evening students will have the day off even though they have class that night; day students are off. It is something to look forward to as you begin to study for midterms in many subjects. I do encourage you all to go to the Business Plan competition to see some fellow alums compete for a cash prize. They have some interesting ideas and you get to see some of their MBA skills in action! It often spurns a new sense of excitement for ideas you have had or dream about for your own business plan in the future! No great sports analogies this week, let’s keep seeing how the Red Sox do first!! “Good plans shape good decisions. That’s why good planning helps to make dreams come true.” --Lester Bittel “Don’t agonize. Organize.” -- Florence Kennedy Announcements This is a reminder that the applications for the four management program travel courses are due on October 15, and the scholarship application deadline has been revised to October 20. For further information, contact Professor Vipin Gupta, vipin.gupta@simmons.edu, x 2409. SOM Reunion is all day on Saturday using Mockler and all of Comm Ave. It will be a really busy day here, so if quiet study is something you need, our recommendation is that you go to the main campus!! Genzyme Presentation, Monday, October 6th, from 4:30-6pm. Don't miss it! Bike Stolen An SOM student locked her bike outside Mockler on Wednesday night and it was stolen while she was in class. We have a bike rack across the street down the stairs and out of sight. We have not had a theft in the last couple of years, but we would encourage you all to use it if you can as Marlborough St has been a target for bike thefts over the years. Please do not keep your bikes inside the building in classrooms or hallways. Thanks! Upcoming Track Meetings The MBA Office will host track meetings on Wednesday, October 14th, from 5-6pm for evening students and Monday October 6th, from 11:30am-12:30pm for day students. Track meetings are with Mary D. and Darla. Students can discuss how the semester is going, ask questions, and talk about any concerns you may be having. Lunch/dinner is served and it's a great chance to meet up with other classmates and see how their semester is going as well! MBA Office Email - mba@simmons.edu Returning Student Mentors Needed! We have started a new Pre-MBA program this fall that has some students interested in the MBA program taking either Leading or Accounting and also studying for the Kaplan course. We would like to offer some returning students to serve as mentors to them with questions, concerns, how you balance school with all the other things in your life etc. if you are interested, please email Christine.carr2@simmons.edu in Admissions or Darla.pires-degrace@simmons.edu in the Program office. We don’t think it will take much time, but it could really help a student thinking about her MBA! Current Students Needed to Mentor Undergraduate Students! I had a meeting with some undergrads last night who are looking to learn from MBA students and be mentored by them. If any new or current students are interested in mentoring our undergrad majors, please email Mary D. at mary.dutkiewicz@simmons.edu and we will try and match you!!
Will be November 19-21. Much more info is coming at the end of October. |
